Fit in times of uncertAintY
I get it – life is uncLear at the moment. We are currently living during a time with serious health threats, serious economic threats, serious mental health threats, etc.
I am not taking these trying times lightly however I think there is a difference between concern and chaos. I think there is a difference between giving up on life/hope and still continuing to push forward and living. A difference between trying to see the positives versus wallowing in the negatives, what ifs, and constant complaining.
Recently I was stuck – I am a planner and I like to be focused however, with the virus scare and subsequent shut down, all my plans and goals were derailed. With the unknown, how do I move forward? How can I plan if I don’t know the time line of all of this? With the disorder how do I carry through with what needs to be done? I don’t want to use the word stressed, anxious, or worried – but I was feeling some type of way about all of this. But then I decided – while stuck in limbo, why don’t I focus on something else?
Although I feel like “fitness” isn’t the most appropriate thing to be discussing, I’m going to do it anyway since this is a fitness blog. Most of us are stuck at home – so now, what is your excuse for not enough time to exercise, no time to food prep, etc? Why don’t you start an April challenge for yourself – and start eating better, start exercising, stretch…Come out of this “shut down” being a little more fit and positive vs stressed and drained.
How about for the month of April you challenge yourself:
- Workout 5 times a week
- Stretch 30 minutes per day
- Do A.M. cardio daily
- Stay on track with your calories for 30 days
Or…..do all of these!! Or…make your own. (cut back on soda, spend QT with family playing games/talking, read, meditate, etc)
What have you been telling yourself you “need”/”should” do but haven’t? Why not focus on bettering yourself during this time? What are your options?
Don’t let this time just waste away. This is life for all of us at the moment; so do what you can, where you are, with what you have – stay safe, be positive, chase your goals, and DoU.
