Slay your Dragon
A dragon is a legendary creature. Symbol of evil. Chaos and untamed. Ferocious. Usually guarding some type of treasure.
In tales, only the wisest (not the strongest) are able to defeat the dragon.
When it comes to your fitness journey - what is your dragon? What is holding you back from reaching your goal? What circumstance, situation, problem, belief, etc continuously gets in your way?
Your lack of time? Priorities?
Negative thinking? Self-Sabotage?
Quitting? Lack of commitment?
Emotional eating? No self-control when it comes to junk food?
Always looking for the quick fixes? Not knowing what to do?
You will continually battle with this dragon until you use your intellect (not your willpower) and slay it once and for all.
Try approaching your “dragon” from a combat point of view. You know what it is – it is evil, untamed, ferocious, taking no prisoners. It continuously defeats you the same way, every time. You know there is going to be another battle, how are you going to prepare? Go into it, the same way as always. Well that is just foolish – it’s obvious that hasn’t worked. SO prepare. Strategize. Come up with ideas that will help you out maneuver or re-direct. It is quite possible, it won’t work out. But on the plus side, you will just have gained knowledge of what didn’t lead to success; therefore preparing another way. If you keep strategizing and learning from your failures – you will eventually succeed.
For instance – my dragon is emotional eating. If you refer back to my blog post…….you can see all of the ways that I have tried and in the end what I use to slay my dragon. Not saying that it works 100% of the time. Sometimes it’s another breed of dragon and I have to come up with other techniques or strategies to combat that will work for me. The point here, is that it is possible to overcome if you prepare, take action, learn from your failures, and keep fighting the good fight.
Be the hero in your story. Slay your dragon. Claim your treasure.
